Ran the 112th Boston Marathon Monday (4-21-08). The triumph was that Robert Cheruiyot (trying to say something, Oct near Cherry) from Kenya won his 4th Boston Marathon. The tragedy is that America barely noticed.
Cheruiyot won the race of 26.2 miles in 2 hours, 7 minutes and 45 seconds. He ran only in the last kilometers. Cheruiyot won the Boston Marathon record in 2003, voter turnout, while in 2006, won and won in 2007 so that this year her 3rd AND 4th straight winin 6 years.
Excuse me while I inhale deeply through the boredom.
Two men from Morocco finished 2 and 3 and two boys from Ethiopia finished 4 and 5-all have unpronounceable names. Imagine a Nike ad says: "Run to Victory with Nike. Bouramdane How, do Boumlili, Asfaw and Adillo!" Notice how it sounds American, and understand how it can be difficult for foreign runners with foreign names on the U.S. market.
Nobody seems to have the clarity to recognizesay, or nerves, so let me first: Assembled the national track and famous marathons in America has fallen to a new low interest, because America does not seem born American runner, who now can win produce signature events.
This is the development of short-oldest marathon race in history:
American Clarence DeMar won his 1st Boston Marathon in 1911, and his 7 1930 American Bill Rogers won her 1st Place in 1975 and his 4 1980
AIbrahim Hussein of Kenya won this year 1991and Robert Cheruiyot won. Between Hussein and Cheruiyot, Kenyan won the race 14 times in 16 years and 16 times in 18 years, losing only a South Korean in 2001 and Ethiopia in 2005.
This year, as the United States finished 10th, was a miracle run in certain environments. The Americans have not done squat in recent years.
Winners of this year's competition was among the 32 runners up can be a magnifying glass, was not a single Americanalso mentioned as a possible winner in our imagination. More than 25,000 runners to run in qualifying this year and 98% finished.
I swear, if you're wondering, an Ethiopian Dire Tune (I, I do not have their names above) won the Women's Boston Marathon. The top 5 finalists were women in America, but around the world.
Cheruiyot took 150,000 $ (the record), cash prizes. Cheruiyot is a super guy and a world-class runners. Monday, his main concern was 2 hours, 7 minuteschange because he wants to represent his country, Kenya, in 2008 this fall, the Olympic Games.
Just because he won in Boston, does not mean that is part of the 3-man team in Kenya. Four other Kenyan AFTER 2:07 this year, big run in the competition. Yikes! This shows how dominant the Kenyans are competing world marathon. Interestingly, not yet of Kenya won the gold at the Olympics, though his specialty.
Unfortunately for Cheruiyot and athleticsField and running in America, won the foreign domination has here created a marketing nightmare. It is difficult because of high blood pressure, if not impossible, to the world market-foreign athletes on American soil, no matter how they win or how many records are established. Nobody in America seems to care.
I found the coverage of USA Today Boston Marathon on page 7 of the sports section buried Monday. It 'was opened, 6 pages of interesting sports news, as some foreigners to win the showBoston Marathon again.
There are great track meet on television in prime time more, only the Olympics gets a higher coverage. Venues, which used to attract thousands of fans now sits empty in comparison. There is little, if applicable, the cover. Sponsor Big time direction to take when directors meet-calling.
This is because America does not seem to produce more runners, it is worth shit. I'm just not competitive and can not win events like the Boston Marathon, wheretheir lives depended on it.
Do not blame the foreign runners, who were once poor, and then found a way to win in America and return home, like a millionaire found. The riders were hungry foreigners. Making a life in America is simple. There seems to be left runners who are hungry enough to train smarter and stronger and slammed the foreign runners.
There seems to be a coach in America who can motivate the runners to get the dead centersomething spectacular. There is currently a runner in America who can handle the heavy marketing and advertising, because there is nobody who makes it possible, if it is important.
The fact that the Americans thought they could not beat the Kenyans is nonsense. It was once thought that it was impossible to run a mile in 4 minutes. Kenyans believe they can win, and the Americans do not believe they can win. I would get up and beat some sense into our American runner and trainer.
We didis the greatest nation in the world, because we had our eyes on the second place, or because we wanted to make a big deal for a place in the top 10 in Boston.
I really think that it is not about raw talent. We need at least a dozen of talented runners among the 300 million people. I think our lack of world-class runners Americans about lack of will and determination. The marketing problem is not gone, and the fans and sponsors will not come back big time, untilAmerica produces American-born runner has to offer against the best in the world can win.
As a runner for life, who enjoys running and the love of the operation, are desperate for our riders so colossal mistake on the world stage.
